Employment is more than a source of income.

It shapes identity. It rebuilds confidence. It restores hope.

Each year, Prospect supports more than 13,000 Albertans as they prepare to enter, reenter, or reimagine their place in the workforce. Behind every number is a story of resilience, courage, and renewed possibility.

When Work Is Lost, More Than Income Is Affected

Unemployment affects mental health, confidence, and connection. The longer someone remains unemployed, the more self-doubt surfaces. Isolation deepens. Everyday challenges become harder to navigate.

Most individuals who come to Prospect have been unemployed for more than a year. Many have tried to navigate it alone while managing health challenges, disability, career disruption, systemic barriers, or years away from the workforce.

“I came to Prospect during one of the toughest periods of my life, feeling hopeless and unsure how to move forward. The support I received helped me rebuild my confidence, learn new skills, and find hope again.” — Andy

For over 30 years, Prospect has stood alongside individuals facing complex and intersecting barriers, helping them rebuild self-belief, regain stability, and move toward meaningful employment across Alberta.
